another day of adventures in portland

today I figured out how to ride from leeann and kevin's place to downtown portland. yesterday I took the train one stop to the zoo and rode into town from there. all the mountainness and complicated roadways are between here and the zoo. so today's adventure was warranted, let me tell you. thanks to the bike map I knew it was possible, it was just vague enough on how to find special bike paths and whatnot. after much backtracking, circling, stopping to map-read, and etc, I found my way to the zoo! from there I took the other road from the one I took yesterday to get downtown. its on this road that you get access to the Hoyt Arboretum and Rose Garden. lovely!

because of how LONG it took me to figure out the route, I miss the 3:30 yoga class by a lot. I read on the website for this studio, Yoga Bohga, that their 3:30 class is only $7 to drop-in! Win! so, I'll be hitting that up tomorrow.

today I was one of lucky few who was stopped by the train fare enforcement people. kevin says that in three years he's had to prove his fare three times. so, I've got some skills I guess! I wasn't worried until she let me know that I had bought the wrong ticket. she explained, in incredible detail, how the system works and proved me that I had in fact bought the wrong ticket. I definitely panicked as she opened up one of her many booklets but then I found she was only issuing me a warning. however, this is a very official warning. I received a carbon copy and I listened and she and dispatch entered a complete description of me so that I'll be fully penalized if I'm ever caught again. yowza.

I need to start looking into my rental car. Darlene stayed over last night and she told me all about what to expect on this drive from Portland to SLC. I think I might actually not be dreading it anymore! I'm getting very excited to see the Great Salt Lake, and then spending four days in Denver with suji without sleeping!
